Emails to Vols

MAY 8, 2011

Hi All,

I hope you were able to enjoy the beautiful weather on this Mother's Day weekend and spend some time with family and friends.  Tonight I want to follow up on the email that Cindi sent out yesterday.

Over the past two years, a number of us have been helping Cindi with the important job of recruiting and retaining dedicated volunteers, and making their experience at CHC fun and rewarding. The demands of running an organization like CHC increase everyday. Budgets, regulations, operations, marketing/advertising, and administration become more complex each year and it has become nearly impossible for one person to be responsible for all of it. Because of this, Cindi, our Executive Director, and the CHC Board have made an organizational adjustment by asking me to take full responsibility for Volunteer Coordination and Development.

I have accepted that assignment and along with help from three other volunteers, will move forward to reenergize volunteer activities. Lisa VanSant and Rick Browne will be working directly with me and Jennifer Dunn will be helping with some behind the scenes tasks as her work schedule permits.

We have a lot of ideas for re-invigorating the CHC volunteer community but I won't try to cover all of those thoughts in tonight's email. As we begin the 2011 season I encourage you to give us your thoughts on how we might improve our organization.  You can do this in a number of ways.  First, my trusty iPhone is with me all the time.  So feel free to call or text me anytime at 717-979-2279. You can also email any of us:
In addition, I will be using Twitter to update you with time critical messages.  You don't need to know anything about Twitter to get those messages.  Simply go to our new volunteer training resources website and click on the "Twitter" button.  The new volunteer web address is:  https://sites.google.com/site/chesapeakeheritageconservancy/home

Of course, if you are really into technology, you can register for Twitter and follow me on your computer or mobile phone.

There is lots more to talk about, but I hate getting long, rambling emails.  So I'm not going to send one.  I will provide more information during the week via email and on the website.

So let's get the season rolling and start having some fun. I'm looking forward to working will all of you.
